Beginnings[]
Once Ade's fame is on the rise and she begins to change into a superficial, self-centered person, Navid finds support in his friends while going through a family crisis, notably Silver and the two start spending more time together. As they become closer, Navid starts developing feelings for Silver and decides to finally tell her, thinking it's all him, because of the strain in his relationship with Ade and his family problems. Silver confesses that she feels it too and they kiss, starting an affair that lasts until Silver finally reveals to Ade that she is the one Navid cheated with.

Navid and Silver come out of the woodwork and become an official couple and Adrianna, who feels hurt and betrayed, lashes out at Silver by sending a topless photo of her to the entire school, and Silver is sexually harrassed. Navid eventually admits that he should have done more to quell the waters and expresses to both of them his regret that their friendship should be ruined because of "an idiot like me". Though Adrianna further attempts to drive the couple apart, they get ever closer and fall in love.
College[]
Navid and Silver are off to a good start, living together in Silver's old apartment that Kelly gave her. Silver is still traumatized by the near suicide attempt when Adrianna attempted to switched out her pills making her have a bipolar episode. Once Navid's family goes out of the country to Sweden, his little sister Leila is forced to live in their tight apartment. Later Navid and Silver fight because Silver finds a brown paper bag with 100,000 dollars in it. Navid tells her that his Uncle Amal is using stolen cars in his stage room. Silver and Navid get into a fight. Navid goes to Princeton. Navid thinks she's going to ask him to stay but she decides she would rather not.
Navid starts school at Princeton but soon returns to L.A for Raj's funeral. Vanessa tells Navid about Silver's breast cancer tests at the hope of bringing Navid and Silver closer together, so Silver would stay away from Liam. After Navid finds out about Silver's cancer tests he is angry at her for not telling him right away, even though Silver didn't want to interrupt his life at Princeton. After Navid cools off, Silver asks Navid to stay and help her through this tough time in her life.
